Marlo Jeannine Ouren, 76, of Clarion, passed away Monday, February 4, 2008 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services were held Friday, February 8 at First United Methodist Church in Clarion. Pastor Don Morrison officiated the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was held at the Harlan Cemetery.

Marlo Jeannine Phipps was born November 25, 1931, in Hamburg Hospital, the daughter of Wayne and Hazel Gillam Phipps. She attended school in Farragut, Iowa, graduating in 1949. Jeannine then went to Simpson College, achieving a degree in education. She then taught elementary education and later became involved in real estate and the Ouren Abstract Company. In 1951, Jeannine was united in marriage to Lawrence R. Parr. To this union three children were born. She later married Bud Ouren in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. Her other passions in life included politics, environmental issues, especially birds, shopping and music. She was an avid book reader and a member of the Book Club at the Clarion Library.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane Sorensen and husband, Dan of Clarion; Janet Leinen of Gilbert, Arizona; five grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; stepchildren, Joplyn (Shawn) Cannon; Jessica Van Houten and Alison Le Blanc; one step-great grandson; one brother, Richard Phipps and wife, Marilyn; one nephew and one niece. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud on December 13, 2001; and a son, Steven on February 10, 1977.
