EAGLE GROVE — David Grigg Elkin, the son of Grigg and Ellen C. (Paine) Elkin, was born April 14, 1951, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was reared and educated in Eagle Grove. David completed the Auto Body Repair Program at Southwestern College in Creston. David was a member of the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove. He was an artist who restored and admired classic cars; enjoyed fishing, boating, movies and traveling. David made his homes in Holmes, Iowa, Minneapolis, MN, Fremont, CA, Galway, NY and Ingleside, IL.

David was married to Melodee McKie and to this union three sons were born. On March 17, 1988, David married Colleen Faulhaber and to this union one son was born, Ronnie G. Elkin.

David had owned and operated an Auto Body shop and farmed with his father. He also worked for Paramount Auto Body and was an automobile insurance adjuster/appraiser in New York and Illinois. David passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at his home in Ingleside of an apparent heart attack, at the age of 56 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen. David is survived by his wife Colleen of Ingleside, IL; sons, Shawn and wife Elena of DeKalb, IL, Timothy and Dustin of Minneapolis, MN and Ronnie G. of Ingleside, IL; step children, Eric Schoenberger of Minneapolis, MN and Sara Schoenberger of Amsterdam, NY grandsons, Jakob and Edward; step granddaughter, Aaliyah; father Grigg Elkin of Eagle Grove; sisters, Mary “Cookie” Thomas of Clarion and Colleen Van Langen and husband Randy of Grand Island, NE; brother, Ron Elkin and wife DewAnn of Tulsa, OK and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 10:30 A.M. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Pastor James Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
