Bernice M. Bard, Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Eagle Grove, Iowa, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the age of 65. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Sittner, and husband, Lincoln; three sons, Curtis Bard, and wife, Lynette, Omaha, Neb., Jeffrey Bard, and wife, Teresa, Sioux Falls, S. D., and Gregory Bard, and wife, Jodie, Lincoln; 9 grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Mersch, Eagle Grove; two sisters, Paulette Loney, and husband, Dean, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Lynette Espeland, Des Moines, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Janet Bard, Eagle Grove, Stan and Paulette Bard, Lincoln; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Bard; parents, Matt and Alberta Mersch; one sister, Karen Sue Mersch; and brothers-in-law, Phil Espeland and Merle Bard.

She was united in marriage to Richard Bard on May 12, 1956. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Anne's Circle, Calvert Recreation Center Ceramics, and Kcolevah Club.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father David Beckman officiating. Burial was held in the Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. There was a prayer service held at 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
