The Belmond Independent, Nov. 4, 1937

MRS. ANDREW JACOBSON

Anna Chelsvig was born to the parents Tjeran and Katherine Chelsvig, August 12th, 1859 in the Fjeldberg parish, Olen, Norway, and passed away from this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tom Shurson, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Tuesday, October 19th, 1937, age 78 years, two months and seven days.

She was baptized into Christ in infancy, and at the age of four years came with her parents to the U.S.A. to Roland, Iowa, where she received instruction and confessed her Christian faith. Later she came to Wright County and in 1883 she was married to John Johnson. Three children were born to this union. Mr. Johnson died March 27th, 1888.

In 1891 she was married to Andrew Jacobson and lived on their farm here in Norway township. Five children were born to this marriage. In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson retired to Belmond, where Mr. Jacobson died December 16th, 1922. Since that time Mrs. Jacobson lived for some time in Belmond, and the last year she has lived with her children. Three of her children passed away before her and five of them now survive, viz; Mrs. Tom Shurson, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Walter Driskill, Des Moines; Mrs. Ole Sharp, Des Moines; Mrs. Ben Merus, Belmond; and Mrs. Victor Delano, Eagle Grove. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and by one brother, Nels Chelsvig, Goodell, Iowa.

Of Mrs. Jacobson it can truly be said that she was a kind and loving wife and mother, and a good neighbor. But that which was greater still was her love to her Savior and his church. It was this love which helped her to bare with the afflictions that were hers, especially the later part of her life. When able, she was a constant attendant at Church worship.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 o'clock at the Kubitzcheck and Kastler Funeral Home at Eagle Grove by Pastor T.J. Severtson and at 2 o'clock at Trinity Church, Belmond, by Pastor B. Guldseth assisted by Pastor Severtson. Interment was made at the Belmond cemetery.

A reception was given for the out-of-town guests at the church parlors for the following; Mr. and Mrs. Orland Sharp, Alden Sharp, Miss Sigma Larson, Miss Della Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Chelsvig, Mrs. Charley Kilbourne, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Gallagher, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Nibble, all of Des Moines; Mrs. Thomas Harem and Otis, and Mrs. Joe Chelsvig and family of Roland, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Nels Chelsvig of Goodell; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lande and Arnold of Thompson, Iowa; Mrs. Norma Nelson and Dorothy and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Shurson and family, Eagle Grove.
