RHODES, NEGLER, ZAMARRISA, LOCKHEAD, SAUR, SIME

Shirley T. Sime Rhodes, 66, of 1202 S. 15th Ave. W., a resident of Newton since moving from State Center in 1950, died Thursday morning, Dec. 6, 1993 at her home following a heart attack. Cremation followed death. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Reese Chapel. The Rev. Matthew Martens will conduct services. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to the First Lutheran Church may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Samuel; two son, Stephen of Lawrence, Kan., and William of Wausau, Wis.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and David Negler of Oshkosh, Wis., and Sana and Mark Zamarrisa of Pueblo, Colo.; and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ramona Lockhead, of St. Louis, Mo., and Sandra Saur of Independence; and her mother, Elizabeth Sime of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her father.

Mrs. Rhodes, a member of the First Lutheran Church, had taught school at State Center. The daughter of Irvin and Elizabeth Sime, she was born July 3, 1927 in rural Belmond and was graduated from Duncombe High School in 1944 and Iowa State University in Ames in 1948. She was married to Samuel Rhodes in 1949 at Duncombe.
