IOWA FALLS - David "Waffle" Collins, 44, of Iowa Falls died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at home. Services will be held Wednesday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. Rev. Bob Miller will officiate. Memorials may be directed to Dawn Schlachter, 1004 Siloam Rd., Iowa Falls, IA 50126.

David was born Jan. 4, 1959, in Hampton to Mavis and Eugene Collins. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1977 and had been employed as a truckdriver for E & V contract Farms at Clarion. He enjoyed motorcycles, kids and the Special Olympics.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Schlachter of Iowa Falls; two sons, Brandon Schlachter and Travis Olson, both of Iowa Falls; two daughters, Casey Schlachter and Letha Olson, both of Iowa Falls; his parents, Mavis and Ed Mutschler of Bradford; four brothers, Lynn Collins of Bradford, Dennis Trimble of Carriere, Miss., Kevin Collins of Hampton, and Brian Collins of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Laurie Dow and Ina Rae Collins, both of Iowa Falls, Tammy Horton of Lafayette, Colo., and Mariea Schnor of Fairbanks; his maternal grandmother, Gladys Orr, of Geneva; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Collins; maternal grandfather, Harold Orr; paternal grandparents Floyd and Elizabeth Collins; mother-in-law Verla Mae Doughty; and a nephew, Stephen Collins.
