ELDORA - Herman R. Cope, 37, of Eldora died Monday, June 7, 2004, from injuries sustained in an auto accident in Eldora. Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora with Pastor Steve Braudt officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is Thursday, June 10, from 5-8 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora.
Herman was born Feb. 12, 1967, in Omaha, Neb., to Loren Sr. and Marjorie (Punke) Cope. He was raised in Stratford, residing in Cedar Rapids and Clarion prior to moving to Eldora in 1999. Herman had previously been married to Yvone Mollenax and Calleen Randall before marrying Julie Kubalek on June 17, 2000. He worked for Quality Products of Eldora as "lead person" and enjoyed figure eight racing with his wife, Julie, at area race tracks.
Survivors include his wife; his children, Jamie Northrup of Woodward, Rick of Eldora, Austin and Kayla of Brownsville, Texas, Angelica Hacker, Chassity Williams and Tony Kubalek, all of Eldora; five sisters, Tami Osten of Cedar Rapids, Susan Wessels of Redding, Calif., Joy Slater of Hollywood, Fla., Carrie Dunbar of Fort Dodge and Rhonda Schwandt of Iowa City; two brothers, Loren Cope Jr. of Millersberg and Paul Cope of Illinois; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Alan Waddell. A memorial fund is being established in his name.
