SIOUX CENTER, Iowa - Wayne Allen Hagge, 87, of Sioux Center died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Sioux Center Community Health Center. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Arnold Punt officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Township Cemetery, Calumet, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Mr. Hagge was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Beaver, Iowa, the son of William Christian and Lydia Olive (Rinehart) Hagge. He graduated from Beaver High School. He married Marie Mae Herridge on Aug. 9, 1936. He was employed as a merchant at his father's store in Beaver, before working for the elevator in Beaver. The couple moved to Calumet, where he was employed as a manager of Quaker Oats Elevator. He was later employed as a manager at Cargill Elevator in Renwick, Iowa, and then Woolstock Elevator in Webster City, Iowa. He retired in April 1979. He also served as a football and basketball referee and a baseball umpire. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Chapter 114, Northwest Iowa Coaches Officials Hall of Fame and Asbury Methodist Church in Webster City. He enjoyed golfing, music, swimming and sports.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Cathie and Les Punt of Sioux Center; a son-in-law and his wife, Dennis and Cathy Langel of Alton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Michael Punt, Melissa Schelling, Jennifer Langel and Kimberly Klock; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Margorie Hennings of Ames, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Hagge of Northville, Mich. He was preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Charles; a daughter, Judith Kay Langel; a brother, Donald; and two brothers-in-law, Kermit Bullard and Norm Hennings. Pallbearers will be Les and Michael Punt, David Klock, Mike Durlam, Dennis Langel and Jim Van Pelt.
