HARDY — Clifford “Scottie” Skiye, 87, of Hardy passed away December 5, 2007 at the Humboldt Care Center North, one day short of his 88th birthday. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Funeral Home. Interment is in Vernon Township Cemetery near Hardy.

Mr. Skiye leaves two daughters, Judy Arcuri of San Mateo, California, and Janet Bertram of Las Vegas, Nevada; sons-n-law, Ben Arcuri and Bob Bertram; four grandsons, Rick (Lisa) Arcuri, Ryan (Jaclyn) Arcuri, Corey (Erin) Hawk, and Jim (Gina) Hawk; step granddaughter, Sherry Wintsch; four great-grandchildren, Frank Arcuri, Vince Arcuri, Samantha Hawk, and Taylor Hawk; sister, Ida Clancy; sister-in-law, LaVonne Skiye; nephews, Hal Skiye, Jay Skiye, Richard Clancy, Douglas Clancy; and his niece, Sharon Clancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Halver and Kristi Skiye; wife, Dorothy in 2000; and brothers, Norman Skiye and Art Skiye.

Clifford Skiye, the son of Halver and Kristi Skiye, was born December 6, 1919 on a farm near Goldfield, Iowa. He received his education in country schools, Hardy School, and Vernon Consolidated School where he graduated in 1937. On February 7, 1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Bowman of Humboldt in Glendale, California where Clifford was employed in the Lockheed Defense Plant. In October of 1942, he was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater in Okinawa and Australia. Following his discharge in October of 1945, he and Dorothy began their farming operations east of Renwick until moving to their present farm bordering the Vernon Township Cemetery in 1949. Clifford enjoyed participating in many sports throughout his life including softball, bowling, stock-car racing, fishing, and snowmobiling to name a few. He enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona at the Goodlife Trailer Resort with old friends and making new friends. He enjoyed family vacations at Spirit Lake and Leech Lake, as well as golfing in Goldfield and Mesa. He was active in the community serving on the Board of Directors for the Hardy COOP Elevator, as well as the Board of Education for Vernon Consolidated School and the Boone Valley School District. He was a beloved father, enjoying family visits and holiday trips to California and was a special grandfather and mentor to his four grandsons who benefited from his wisdom and enjoyed his humor.
