Fort Dodge MessengerEAGLE GROVE — Denice Madonna Niederhauser, the daughter of George and Helen (Rave) Kueter, was born Aug. 18, 1933, in Bellevue, Iowa. Denice graduated from Bernard High School in 1951. She worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids before her marriage. On April 28, 1956, Denice was united in marriage with Gerald “Jerry” Niederhauser at Bernard, the couple moved to Eagle Grove in 1968. Denice was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed raising children, her family was a true priority. After the children started school, Denice worked as a secretary in the Eagle Grove School District for 20 years, retiring in 1996. Denice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove and the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Denice also volunteered in the Eagle Grove community.
Denice passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 74 years. She will long be remembered for her fighting spirit and determination. Denice was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Kueter. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Niederhauser of Eagle Grove; four sons, Jim Niederhauser and wife Teresa of West Des Moines, Tom Niederhauser and wife Missie of Eagle Grove, Dan Niederhauser and wife Cari of Spring Valley, Ill and Gary Niederhauser of Urbandale; six grandchildren, Steven, Abby, Kelsi, Tyler, April and Blair; two step grandchildren, Bryan Dayton and wife Shannon and Jeremy Dayton; two step great-grandchildren, Derek and Caden Dayton; brother, Robert Kueter and wife Rita of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Rosary at 4 p.m.
