Fort Dodge MessengerKermit C. Spangler, 84, passed away on Sunday at Fort Dodge Villa Care Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastors Chris Lang and Paul Stone officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove.
Kermit Charles Spangler the son of Arthur M. and Clara (Tuttle) Spangler, was born July 12, 1923, near Eagle Grove. He attended Eagle Grove schools, graduating with the “Class of 1940”. On May 25, 1947, Kermit was united in marriage to Cora B. Buroos at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. He farmed in the Duncombe, Thor and Eagle Grove areas, retiring to Eagle Grove in 1974. He was also employed at Vincent Lumber Company for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Cora of Eagle Grove; son, Arnold Spangler and wife Penny of New York City, NY; daughter, Martha Spangler of Parker, CO; 4 grandchildren: Christopher Spangler of New York City, NY, Allison Spangler of Lewiston, ME, Aaron Flohrs of Parker, CO and Andria Flohrs and Ben Ricard of Englewood, CO and great-granddaughter, Maya Ann Ricard; three brothers: Carroll, Jack, and Abe all of Eagle Grove; four sisters: Dorothy Buss of Mason City, Ina Mae Skadburg of Eagle Grove, Clarice Carlson of Britt and Emma Jean Bloxham of Clarion and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be directed to Evangelical Lutheran Church.
