EAGLE GROVE — John Dean “Jack” Hamilton, the son of Drew C. and Grace D. (Clark) Hamilton, was born December 20, 1926, in Ralston, Iowa. He was educated in the Glidden area and graduated from Glidden High School in 1944. Jack served as a Petty Officer in the Merchant Marines, during W.W. II, from August of 1944 until November 1946. On May 18, 1947, Jack was united in marriage with Wilma Cochran at Scranton, Iowa. The couple lived in Ralston, Webster City and moved to Eagle Grove in 1955. Jack worked as a printer for the Eagle Grove Eagle Newspaper for several years. Jack and Wilma moved to Ruskin, Florida in 1986 and returned to Eagle Grove in 1996. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was also involved in scouting for many years. Jack passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 80 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma on November 3, 2006; sister, Helen Nadine; brother, Joseph and grandson, Lonney Ingram. Survivors include three children: Michael Hamilton and wife Susan of Des Moines, Keith Hamilton and wife Cathy of Eagle Grove and Carol Ingram of Eagle Grove; five grandchildren: Steven, Aaron, Elaine and Kellie Hamilton and Skyler Ingram and two step grandchildren: Josh and John Hodges. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Mary K. Green officiating Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery in rural Greene County. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
