WEBSTER CITY — William “Bill” H. McCurry, 83, of Webster City, IA lost his two month battle with esophageal cancer on Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. William Howard McCurry was born August 19, 1924 on the family farm near Goldfield, IA to James “Howard” and Grace Geraldine (Packard) McCurry. He graduated from Renwick High School in 1942. Bill married Mary “Bea” Beatrice Wilson on November 4, 1945 in Renwick, IA. Bill retired from farming in 1986 and his favorite hobby was fishing. He was a member of the Lions Club, Renwick United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Izaak Walton League of America. Survivors include his wife Bea McCurry of Webster City; three daughters, Lana (Glen) Givan of Bay Village, OH, Lynne (Keith) Kjelden of Denver, CO, and Kim (Dave) Stoakes of Webster City, IA; one sister, Wilma Tatone of Bloomington, MN; and one sister-in-law, Ruth McCurry of Belmond, IA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Natalie Swanson of Scottsdale, AZ, Andrea Swanson of Denver, CO, Shawn Givan of Lakewood, OH, Daniel Stoakes, Douglas Stoakes, Kelly Stoakes, and Devon Stoakes all of Webster City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Don and Duane McCurry; and one sister, Miriam Mahood. A private family service will be held with no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Hamilton County Hospice located at 821 Seneca Street, Webster City, Iowa, 50595
