Roger E. Wilcox, 92, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15, at the Celebration Center of Friendship Haven with the Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Roger is survived by a sister Marjorie Paneitz, Arkansas; many nieces and nephews and his special friends, Jan and Dennie Friederichs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arloine, a brother Milton, a sister Eva, a half-brother Leslie and a special friend Dale Jorgenson.

Roger Ellis Wilcox, the son of Albert and Edith (Ellis) Wilcox, was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Troy Township. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School and was Eagle Grove’s first state champion wrestler. He attended Iowa State University. In December, 1935, Roger was united in marriage to Arloine Winans. Roger was a lifelong farmer in the Eagle Grove area. He retired in 1982 and the couple moved to Fort Dodge. Arloine preceded Roger in death in 1993. Roger was a two-time state champion for Eagle Grove and in 1975 was inducted into the Eagle Grove High School Sports Hall of Fame. He greatly enjoyed dancing with Arloine.
