Funeral Services Set for Thursday; Burial at Greene
DOWS—Funeral services will be held here Thursday for Edgar Hubert Holmes, 73, who died at Cherokee Monday. The rites will be conducted at the Halvorson funeral home here at 1 p. m. with the Rev. R. A. Brough, pastor of the Dows Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be at Greene. Mr. Holmes came to Iowa at the age of 14 from New Rockford, Ill., where he was born Feb. 5, 1868. He came to Dows in 1911. Married to Minnie Bullis, who died in 1904, Mr. Holmes was the father of two children through this union. A son, Ralph, died in 1930, while a daughter, Blanche Holmes of Iowa City, survives. Mr. Holmes was married in 1907 to Gertrude Spears. Mrs. Holmes, a son, Harold Holmes of Dows, and four daughters survive. The daughters are Mrs. Joe Senenfelder of Dows, Mrs. Otis Weir of Galt, and Miss June and Miss Clara Holmes, both of Dows. Also surviving are two brothers, Herman Holmes of Morris, Minn., and Ervin Holmes of Royal, Nebr.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtie Klinetop of Charles City, and seven grandchildren.
