VERA I. MCBRIDE, resident of Trinity Center at Luther Park, died Saturday, November 5, 2005. Services will be held at Westover Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12 with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. A private burial at Glendale Cemetery will follow the service. Vera was born in 1911 in Goldfield, IA to Ada and Antone Rasmussen. She graduated from Goldfield High School, and came to Des Moines in 1929 to attend commercial college. She later attended Eagle Grove Junior College and the University of Minnesota. She worked in several secretarial positions. Vera married Russell G. McBride in 1945, maintaining their home in Des Moines. She was a long time active member of the First Baptist Church where she served on various boards. Vera was a master homemaker, artist and gardener. She loved being around people and possessed a wonderful cheerful personality.

She is survived by daughter, Joy Gage (Jon) of Franklin, WI; sister, Nadine Myers of Des Moines; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by Russell in 1993 and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the First Baptist Church of Johnston, would be appreciated.
