CLARION,IOWA -- Jonie Lee (Freeman) Hogan, died Sunday, June 7, 1998, from injuries incurred from a motorcycle accident in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jonie Lee (Freeman) Hogan, daughter of Shirley (Barrett) Freeman of Clarion and William Freeman of Boone, was born March 11, 1958, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa on April 13, 1958. Jonie moved to Clarion with her family in 1959. She attended St. John's Catholic school in Clarion through the 5th grade. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1976. She was homecoming queen her senior year. Jonie was employed in Clarion at what is now known as Centrobe until she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. On January 13, 1996 she married Stuart Hogan at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raleigh. At the time of her death, she was employed at the North Carolina Department of Transportation as a research analyst with the Geographics Information Systems since, 1993. Her husband, Stuart, is a stereo compiler for the Photogrammetry Section with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Ethel Barrett of Pocahontas and Kenneth and Naomi Freeman of Goldfield. She is survived by her husband, Stuart Hogan of Raleigh, N.C., her mother, Shirley Freeman of Clarion; her father, William Freeman of Boone; her sisters, Deb Freeman of Clarion and Roxy, (Dan) Schulz of Peachtree City, Georgia, her brother, Joe Freeman of Peachtree, Georgia and a niece and nephew, Jana and Jason Schulz of Peachtree City, Georgia.

Jonie was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raleigh, N.C., and volunteered many hours of service for the needs of her church and community. Funeral service will be held on Friday morning at 10:30 from St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 10, 1998 at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raleigh. A memorial fund has been established and memorials may be sent to Stuart Hogan, 208 North Bend Dr., Knightdale, N.C. 27545.
