Darlyle D. State, 70, Eldora, died July 20, 2007 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services were held July 24 at Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home in Dows with Pastor Stan Watne officiating. Interment was in the Galt Cemetery.

Darlyle Don, son of Donald and Estella (Draves) State, was born February 23, 1937 in Franklin County. He attended schools in Dows, Lincoln #6, Clarion, and graduated from Rowan High School in 1955. Darlyle worked as a farmhand and meat cutter in Webster City, Eagle Grove, Alexander, Mason City and Ottumwa. He eventually made his home in Eldora where he worked as a furniture designer. On May 28, 1982 he married Mary Lou Brown. She died in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, collecting wind chimes, and attending the Clay County Fair in Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Johnson. Darlyle is survived by sisters Arlyce (William) Rout, Jr. of Kanawha, and Avonne Johnson of Mason City; brother Vernon (LaVonne) State of Dows; nieces and nephews Brad Johnson, Bill L. Rout, Rhonda Rainwater-Johnson, Wade Rout, Michael Rout, Bret State and Brian State; and special friends Ronald (Darlene) Ferch and Wally Ferch of Eldora.

DOWS - Darlyle D. State, age 70, of Eldora, formerly of Dows, Iowa passed away Friday, July 20, at the Eldora Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Eldora. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 300 N. Lee St., Dows, Iowa, 50071, with Pastor Stan Watne officiating. Interment will take place at the Galt Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, 300 N. Lee St., Dows, IA 50071, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Ewing Dugger Helgeson Funeral Home, Dows.
