Donald Joseph Hunst, 80, Clarion, died July 18, 2007 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown where he had resided since 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial was held July 21 at St. John's Catholic Church in Clarion. Joe Hunst was born in Belmond on April 7, 1927 to Remie and Pauline Hunst. He married Irene Blass in 1954. In 1989 he "retired" and managed Clarion Area Transit until 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo, and an infant sister. He is survived by his wife; brother Gene (Sally) Hunst of South Carolina; children Steve (Mary Jo) Hunst of Illinois, Gary (Marsha) Hunst of Pennsylvania, and Jeanie Hill of Indianola; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
