Lura Eileen Frank, the daughter of William H. and Margaret R. (Humphrey) Weinhold, was born Jan. 18, 1910, in Wadena, Ind. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1928 and Eagle Grove Junior College in 1930. On Aug. 22, 1935, Lura was united in marriage with Donald T. Frank at the First Congregational Church in Eagle Grove. Lura was very proud of her role as a farmer’s wife as well as working for the Eagle Grove Community Schools and the Eagle Grove Rotary Ann Homes. Lura was a member of the United Church of Christ where she served in the church guild, church circles and was a choir member most of her adult life serving as a soloist to the age of 80 years. She was also a member of Troy Culture Club, Friendship Club and served as a 4H Assistant Leader.

Lura passed away Monday, July 16, 2007, at Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald in 1969; brother, Willard; brother-in-law, Martin Frank; and sisters-in-law, Luella, Zepha and Frances. Survivors include her children, Dale A. Frank and wife Joy of Charles City, Wayne S. Frank and wife Judy of Sigourney, Doryce D. Halverson and husband Don of Eagle Grove, Myrle G. Frank and wife Cynthia of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; Jackie Yon McFalls, as dear as a daughter, and husband Don of Mesquite, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Kristin Frank of North English, Karin Schweda (Steffen) of Charles City, Rob Frank (Tina) of Keota, Chris Carter (Natches) of Sigourney, Kurt Halverson (Tracey) of Winder, Ga., Deborah Schmidt (Nathan) of Altoona, Scott Halverson of Clear Lake, Nathan Frank of Placerville, Calif., Naomi Shue (Karl) of Citrus Heights, Calif., Noble Frank of Orangevale, Calif.; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, LaVerna Frank of Britt.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 20, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Pastor James Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be Thursday 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
