EAGLE GROVE — Marjorie L. Skiff, the daughter of James S. and Mordy (Larson) Young, was born April 25, 1921, near Thor, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School. She then attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Marjorie taught school for a few years, before heading west to Colorado to work. On September 8, 1956, Marjorie was united in marriage with James A. Skiff at Denver, Colorado. They made their home in Colorado for a few years before returning to the farm northwest of Eagle Grove in 1963. Marjorie was a longtime member of Grace Evangelical Free Church. She also enjoyed baking and sewing.

Marjorie passed away Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Wright Medical Center in Clarion at the age of 86 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ernestine. Survivors include her husband, James A. Skiff of Eagle Grove; son Joel A. Skiff and wife Jennifer of Lonsdale, MN; brother, James E. Young of Las Cruces, New Mexico; nephew James E. Young, Jr. of Wisconsin and cousins: Palmer and Roger Larson, Leslie and wife Esther Larson of Eagle Grove, Kenneth Larson, Larry and wife Rodene Larson of Ames, Rocky Lavalle of Iowa Falls, Genelle Benner of Ohio and Mark Rogness of Arizona.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 1:30 p.m., at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with Pastor John Nett officiating. Burial will be in Norway Township Cemetery, rural Eagle Grove. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
