William Minor Spainhower born April 24, 1889, at Donnaha, N. C., son of Julius and Alice Spainhower, He came to Iowa at the age of 21 and worked as a farm hand. In December, 1913, he was united in marriage to Minnie Moore, who passed away in 1937. They spent their married life with the exception of eight years in Virginia, North Carolina, and near Eldora. They moved to Clarion vicinity in 1936. In 1938 he married Mrs. Gladys Delger and to this union three children were born. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Billy and Charles, and one daughter, Barbara and a foster son, Jerry. Also surviving are two brothers, W, L. Spainhower of Sanford, N.C. and T. T. Spainhower of Hampton and two sisters, Mrs. L. E. Brown and Mrs. Tom Brown of Kernersville, N. C.

W. M. Spainhower Found Dead in Car Sunday Morning

W. M. Spainhower, 1032 South Main St., was found dead in his car Sunday morning about 5 o'clock by
his son. William. Coroner R. C. Eaton was called and after making an investigation he decided he had taken his own life. His act was attributed to poor health. He had attached a piece of garden hose to the exhaust pipe of the car and directed it into the passenger compartment The car was in the garage with the door closed. His absence was not discovered until Sunday morning when his son, William went out to get the car to deliver Sunday papers. The Spainhowers have been residents of Clarion since last October, having moved here from a farm northwest of Holmes. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Eyler funeral home with Rev. W. Gordon Smedsrud, pastor of the First Lutheran church officiating. He is survived by his wife, three sons and one daughter; two sisters and two brothers.
