Leona G. Seehusen, 93, of Fort Dodge, died July 9, 2007 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Zuehls officiating. Interment will be held in Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Leona G. Lindquist, the daughter of Bernard and Julia (Grunstad) Lindquist, was born on Oct. 5, 1913 in Des Moines. She lived in Hiteman and Ames before moving to Fort Dodge where she attended country school, Fort Dodge High School and Otho High School. Leona married Elmer Lempke on Feb. 15, 1934. The couple farmed in the Vincent and Eagle Grove area until Elmer passed away in 1968. On August 1, 1981, Leona was united in marriage to Wayne Seehusen. They lived in Vincent until moving to Fort Dodge in 1989. Leona was an active member of South Enes Lutheran Church for many years. She was a member of Family Friends Association at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, where her son Larry lives. She was also a member of Sons of Norway and Senior Citizen Potluck at Vincent. She was currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband Wayne Seehusen of Fort Dodge; her son Larry Lempke of Clear Lake; stepchildren, Gordon (Linda) Seehusen of Vincent, Richard (Amanda) Seehusen of Fort Dodge, Karen (Warren) Birchard of Des Moines, Cinde (Dick) Welch of Douglasville, Ga., and Linda Seehusen of Fort Dodge; her sister Bernice Esahak of Scottsdale, Ariz.; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband Elmer Lempke; her parents; her brothers, Art Lindquist and Gilbert Lindquist; stepdaughters, Susan Seehusen and Kathy Millslagle and grandson Wayne Millslagle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards the Endowment Fund at Opportunity Village, 1200 North 9th St. West, Clear Lake, IA 50428 or to Christ Lutheran Church.
