BELMOND - Ruth F. Wilmarth, 80, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2002) at the Belmond Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond, with the Rev. David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Francis Cemetery near Belmond. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond with a scriptural wake service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
Ruth Fulton Wilmarth was born on June 26, 1921, at Belmond, the daughter of Fred D. and Georgia M. (Frohling) Fulton. She grew up in Belmond where she graduated from Belmond High School in 1939. Following graduation, she worked for the Courson Insurance Agency and later the Thompson Seed Company. On November 11, 1944, Ruth was united in marriage with Charles Wilmarth at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond. The couple made their home in Belmond. Ruth and Chuck settled on an acreage outside of Belmond in 1956. Ruth was a devoted homemaker and mother. She was very active in Campfire Girls, Cub Scouts and 4-H. Ruth served on the Belmond Library Board. She loved to golf and play bridge. Ruth was a member of the Claremond Country Club. She was also a member of the St Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she served in many capacities.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, of Belmond; a daughter, Sue Breeden and her husband, John, of Minneapolis, Minn.; a son, Lee Wilmarth and his wife, Paula, of Decorah; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Melissa and Kevin; a sister, Nelda Hardy and her husband, Irwin, of Osage; a brother, Jack Fulton and his wife, Shirley, of Belmond; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be directed to the Belmond Public Library, Wright County Hospice and St Francis Xavier Catholic Church.Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
