BELMOND - The funeral for Nettie Watermiller, 93, of Belmond, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond, with the Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Reformed Cemetery in Belmond.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour before services on Monday at the Church.

Nettie (Dorenkamp) Watermiller, the daughter of Jacob and Rosa (Pals) Dorenkamp, was born in Wright County on March 11, 1907. She attended school in Alexander and graduated from Meservey High School in 1926. She attended college in Cedar Falls and taught school for three years. Nettie was united in marriage to Jacob Watermiller on Oct. 1, 1930, at the First Reformed Church in Meservey. They farmed together on farms around Belmond, while Nettie started teaching again for the next 29 years. She also taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Meservey and, after their marriage, they became members of the Immanuel Reformed Church; then in retirement to Belmond, they became members of the Bethany Reformed Church. Nettie died on Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at the Belmond Health Care Center in Belmond.

She is survived by a daughter, Marlys Rich and husband, Jack, of Johnston; a son, Marlyn Watermiller and his wife, Jackie, of Des Moines; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Leona Lieberknecht, of Belmond, Ruth Suntken, of Meservey, Lavonne "Bonnie" Boelman, of Meservey, and Marie Schott, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Robert "Bud" Dorenkamp, of Lakewood, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Dorenkamp, of Clear Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob; son-in-law, Don Toft; brothers, Lester and Louie; and sisters, Ethel, Luella and Martha. Tenold Funeral Home.
