FOREST CITY - Everett M. Hanson, 81, died Saturday (July 28, 2001) at the Good Samaritan Center, Forest City. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City, with the Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating. Burial will be at Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., Forest City, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
Everett M. Hanson, the son of Robert and Bessie (Larson) Hanson, was born Dec. 23, 1919, on a farm near Goldfield. He attended the rural schools of Wright County and farmed with his parents. In 1936 he moved with his family to Crystal Lake where he worked various jobs in the area. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to Crystal Lake and continued farming. On Oct. 12, 1946, Everett married Dorothy Stangler at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Besides farming he did road construction and worked at Winnebago Industries from which he retired in 1985. On June 18, 1990, he married Myrtle Nelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and fishing. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Everett is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hanson of Forest City; three children, Sandra Hanson and her husband, Richard, of Forest City, Rosalyn Berhow and her husband, Wayne, of Kanawha, and DuWayne Hanson and his wife, Debra, of Bulverde, Texas; three stepchildren, Janice Kirschbaum and her husband, Jim, of Crystal Lake, Jerel Nelson and his wife, Miriam, of Omaha, Neb., and Joyce Gradoville of Omaha, Neb.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanette Baker and her husband, Albert, of Forest City, and Ardith Rose of Springdale, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorothy, in October of 1984; a sister, Ruby Howard; and a brother, LeRoy Hanson. Petersen Lund Funeral Home.
