BRITT - Manley "Bud" Orvick, 83, of Britt, passed away Monday (June 17, 2002) at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Funeral services for Manley Orvick will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Dr. John Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Norway Township near Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ewing Funeral Chapel in Britt and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Manley was born on April 5, 1919, the son of Severt and Tena Williams Orvick at Goldfield. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hardy. He attended Vernon Township Consolidated School graduating in 1936. He helped on the family farm until he enlisted in the Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II.
Manley married Anna Mae Indvik on Dec. 1, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. The family moved south of Kanawha in 1962, and Manley worked for Wright County for the next 25 years.
He was interested in 4-H and served as a leader for several years. He was custodian of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kanawha and also cared for the cemeteries in Norway Township for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family. The grandchildren were very special. He retired in 1984, moving back to Britt in 1991. Manley was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Britt.

Manley is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; three daughters, Twyla Curry and husband, Les, of Amboy, Minn., Diane Crane and husband, John, of Norwalk, and Sonya Brightwell and husband, Ronnie, of Osawatomie, Kan.; one son, Mark and wife, Tracy, of Troy, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Anita Orvick,of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Michael; one sister, Stella; three brothers, Howard, Thomas and Wilmer; and one niece, Thelma Orvick. Ewing Funeral Chapel.
