March 26, 2006MASON CITY — Archie C. Mosiman, 84, died Friday (March 24, 2006) at the IOOF Home, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City, with the Reverend Rose Calderon-Khan officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Archie C. Mosiman Memorial Fund.
Archie Calvin Mosiman was born on July 17, 1921, in Woolstock, the son of Simon and Katherine (Patterson) Mosiman. Archie was united in marriage to Dorothy Gregory on Jan. 26, 1942, in Mason City. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. Archie worked for the Chicago Milwaukee Railroad and Allied Mills for 30 years until his retirement in July of 1983. His wife, Dorothy, died in March of 1988. Later Archie enjoyed working for Wal-Mart as a greeter. On Jan. 12, 1997, he was united in marriage to Elinor Felker. She died in 2003. Archie enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards, going on casino bus trips, and dancing; his greatest love was spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his children, Geneva (Marvin) Kitner, Mason City, Patricia (Dennis) Vician, Emmetsburg, and Katherine (Merlin) Brockhoff, Arlington, Minn.; two daughters-in-law, Mary Mosiman and Linda Mosiman-Hackleman both of Mason City: 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther (Pete) Daniels, Garner, Beverly (Lloyd) Faaborg, Swaledale; brother, Cecil (June) Mosiman, Belmond; sister-in-law, Irene Mosiman, Meservey; along with many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Dorothy and Elinor; sons, David, Richard, and Robert Mosiman; brothers, Robert, Rollin and Donald; and one sister, Clara Mae Steenblock.
