Dorothy Lorraine Kreitlow, 85, of Clarion, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006, at the North Iowa Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 8, at the United Presbyterian Church, Clarion. Pastor Curt Miner officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Interment will be held at a later date.
Dorothy Lorraine Kreitlow, was born on March 31, 1921 in Clarion, the daughter of Sidney and Emma (Claude) Wason. On October 1, 1942, Dorothy was united in marriage to Warren Kreitlow. The couple settled on a farm near Clarion. In 1966, they moved to Clarion and spent the rest of their lives and raised their family. Dorothy worked in the kitchen at the nursing home and also did some babysitting. Dorothy enjoyed reading books and playing bingo and cards with her friends. She also enjoyed doing cross stitch and other embroidery. She was also an avid Hawkeye fan. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, served on the Friendship Ministry, and the Ladies VFW Auxiliary.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Wayne and special friend, Linda of Clarion and Bruce and wife, Jennifer of Clarion; two daughters, Carrie Bisbee and husband, Jim of Readlyn, Iowa and Iris Nickelson and husband, Ralph of Mauston, Wisconsin; two brothers, Wilbur Wason and Bill Wason of Clarion; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
