September 14, 2006Viola Marie Mosher, 88, of Clarion, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the USA Health Care Center, Clarion. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 13, at the United Church of Christ Congregational, Clarion. Pastor Curt Miner officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in the French Church Cemetery, Woolstock.
Viola Marie Mosher, was born on March 5, 1918 in Woolstock, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Hanson) Hilpipre. She attended the Woolstock High School, where she played girls' basketball. She worked as a telephone operator in Woolstock. On December 20, 1936, Viola was united in marriage to Gary Mosher at the Methodist Parsonage in Clarion. The family lived and farmed near the Clarion, Wall Lake Township and Woolstock areas, and also lived in Eagle Grove. Viola moved into Clarion in 1996. Viola loved being a farm wife and working side by side with her husband, Gary. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning what she grew in her garden, playing cards, doing word puzzles and reading. She loved sports and was a true Hawkeye fan. Viola was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational in Clarion, Wall Lake Monday Club and the OTO Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Howieson and husband, Jim of Clarion; a son, Guy Mosher of Indianola; a daughter-in-law, Arlene Mosher of Dows; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary in 1987; a son, Larry in 1939; a son, Gene in 1996; a daughter, Eileen Paul in 1998; and a sister, Dorothy Mayes.
