HUMBOLDT — Raymond Wilcox, 94, of Humboldt, passed away June 27, 2007 at Springvale Assisted Living in Humboldt. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Paul Bengtson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Indian Mound Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is prior to the service beginning at noon Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Irene of Humboldt; daughter, Ardis Dahl of Rolfe; son, Richard (Patsy) Wilcox of Arkansas; grandchildren, Jerry (Paula) Dahl of Rutland, Judy (Tom) Nilles of Gilmore City, Kelly (Brenda) Dahl of Kearney, NE, Scott (Deb) Dahl of Dakota City, Bill Wilcox of Oklahoma, Gary (Frances) Wilcox, Shawn Wilcox, Eric Wilcox of San Francisco, Aaron Wilcox of Des Moines, and Paige Wilcox of San Francisco; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Frances Knight of Goldfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Kathy Wilcox.

Raymond Wilcox, the son of Charles Edward and Eva (Malaise) Wilcox, was born July 29, 1912 on a farm in Wright County near Woolstock. As a boy, he moved with his family to northern Kossuth County and following his education, began farming. He was united in marriage to Irene Zielske On August 7, 1933 at Columbus, Kansas and the couple made their home in Webster County where they farmed for several years. After the couple retired from farming, they made their home at Humboldt where Raymond became a heavy equipment mechanic for area quarries. He then went to work for Hallett Materials where he was promoted to Superintendent and was transferred to Ames. Following his retirement, the couple returned to Humboldt. Mr. Wilcox was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and throughout his retirement, built elaborate dollhouses for his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed card playing and taking his great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren fishing.
