Charlotte Ellen Clagett, 87, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Evangelical Free Church Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 22, 2007 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone. Rev. Lindsay Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery of Boone. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, at the Schroeder ~ Walter Funeral Home, Fifth & Story Streets of Boone from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family will be present at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., visitation will continue Friday morning at the church from 8:30 a.m. to the time of service at 10:00 a.m.

Charlotte was born on January 24, 1920 in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Henry LeRoy and Lydia Jennie (Haglund) Burgess. She grew up in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1938. She attended the Iowa School of Beauty Culture and worked as a licensed cosmetologist until she married Marcus Nicholas Schroeder on May 18, 1944 at the West Des Moines Christian Church. Marcus died in 1975. On September 26 1980, Charlotte married Grayson LaVern Clagett at the Boone Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker through the years, and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Boone Women's Club, Questers, and China Painters. She was active in her church, serving as choir director for over 25 years.

Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marcus and her husband, Grayson. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hodges and her husband Michael of Marshalltown, Iowa and their children, Gregory Hodges and his wife Carly, and their children, Kaitlyn 2 , and Tyler 6 months of North Liberty; Jeffrey Hodges and his wife Meghan of Chicago and Stacie Hodges of Iowa City; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lenora and Don Hasstedt of Boone; her sister-in-law, Edna Schroeder of Boone; her two step-daughter's, Merry Jean Newton and her husband Jack of Marshalltown, Iowa and Linda Grudi of Palmyra, Pennsylvania; her step-son, James Clagett and his wife Donna of Woolstock, Iowa; her numerous step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; step great-great grandchildren and other relatives. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone, in memory of Charlotte E. Clagett. Schroeder ~ Walter Funeral Home, Fifth & Story Streets of Boone is in charge of the arrangements.
