CLEAR LAKE - Mrs. Ralph (Hazel) Olinger, 78, 716 N. 13th St., died at a Clear Lake nursing home Wednesday evening following an illness of the last several months. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvern Kinrade officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Olinger was born Aug. 9, 1893, near Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Ardee and Ella (Moran) Crane. She received her education in Neveda schools. On Jan. 30, 1912, she was married to Ralph Olinger at Dows. They farmed in Story County until 1919 when they moved to a farm near Dows. In 1933, they moved to a farm south of Clear Lake. Mr. Olinger died in July 1957 and she continued living on the farm until 1962 when she moved into Clear Lake.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. DeWayne (LaVon) Bridges and Mrs. Earl (Ida Rose) Ver Helst, both of Dows; two sons, Homer, Alexander, and Kenneth, Belmond; two sisters, Mrs. Alger (Myrtle) Evans, Eagle Grove; and Miss Lillian Crane, Mason City; 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers. She attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of Rural Lakettes, the Star Club, and Women's Relief Corps. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Harold, Merle, Ellery, William, Kurt, Robert, Gary and Richard Olinger; Gene and Ronald Bridges; and Dennis and Dean Ver Helst.
