IOWA FALLS-Marvin W. Locke, 85, of Iowa Falls, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Services were held Friday, June 1, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Military honors were provided by Hyman-Peavey American Legion Post No. 188, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family, in care of his wife, Lillian Locke, 2008 Beaver, Iowa Falls.

Marvin was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Barron County, Wis., to John and Carrie Halvorson Locke. He graduated from Rice Lake High School in Wisconsin in 1937. He served in the United States Army from 1943-46 during World War II, stationed in New Guinea, the Phillipines and Japan. After his discharge, he returned to the United States and attended the School of Watchmaking in Kansas City, Mo. On June 18, 1949, he married Lillian Klein at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden. He was employed by jewelry stores in Ottumwa and Newton before purchasing the Winbigler Jewelry Store in Eagle Grove. Following an explosion in the store, he worked for other jewelers in Iowa. He had been a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, serving as elder and financial secretary. In April 1989 they moved to Iowa Falls and joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Fort Dodge Watchmakers Guild, Jewelers of Amercia, Watchmakers of Iowa , the Hyman-Peavey Amercian Legion Post No. 188 and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post No. 8708, both in Iowa Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Iowa Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Margaret Orazem and a half sister, Betty Walkowiak. Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
