ROCHESTER, MN -- The funeral for Anna "Ruth" Suntken will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with the Rev. Ronald Suntken officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Rowan, Iowa. Mrs. Suntken, 94, of Rochester, formerly a longtime Elgin area resident, died Tuesday (May 22, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital. Anna Brinkman was born Dec. 24, 1912, in Rowan. She grew up in Dows, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. She met William "Bill" Suntken, and they were married Feb. 28, 1940, in Austin. They moved to the Elgin area, where she lived for 50 years. She was a homemaker and her husband was a farmer. She then moved to Rochester to receive health care and be closer to her family. She loved her family and was an outstanding homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, including frequent trips to the casino.

Survivors include four daughters, Marlene (Richard) Smith and Janet Unverzagt, both of Rochester, Donna Beuer of Park Rapids, Minn., and Karen (Lee) Robey of Norfolk, Va.; two sons, Ronald (Janice) of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Marlin of Elgin; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores Beto of Salem, S.D.; and a brother, Kenneth (Phyllis) Brinkman of Gilmore City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, a great-grandson and four sisters.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Macken Funeral Home.
