BELMOND — Gertrude Pals, 88, died Monday (Sept. 14, 1998) at the St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Shakopee, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Celestyne DeVance officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church Wednesday.

Gertrude (Gealow) Pals was born on Sept. 1. 1910, in Wright County, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Tiedeman) Gealow. On Feb. 11, 1931, she was married to William Pals. Together they farmed in Hancock County for over 50 years. The couple had one son, Larry, and one daughter, Marilyn. Gertrude and William moved to Belmond on Oct. 15, l981. Gertrude was a member of the United Methodist Church in Belmond, the Belmond Senior Citizens Club, and the Over 60 Club.

She is survived by her son, Larry Pals and his wife, Barbara, Shakopee, Minn.; her daughter, Marilyn Chandler and Ray Horstman, Forest Lake, Minn.; four grandchildren, Brian Pals and his wife, Jan, Shakopee, Minn., Mike Pals and his wife, Patty, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Cindy Pals and Mike Kutscher, Savage, Minn., and Ten Chandler, Bayport, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren, Steven Pals, Kelly Pals, Amanda Pals, Courtney Skomars, Cody Chandler, Nicole Pals, Andrew Pals, Ryan Kutscher, and Jamie Kutscher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; three brothers; eight sisters; and a granddaughter, Karen Pals.
