MESERVEY — Esther Marie Suntken, 84, died Saturday (Dec. 26, 1998) at the Belmond Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Reformed Church, Meservey, with the Rev. Rodney Meester officiating. Interment will be in Immanuel Reformed Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and will resume one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday.

Esther Marie (Pals) Suntken, the daughter of John and Grace (Frey) Pals, was born on Nov. 27, 1914, in Wisner Township, Franklin County. She attended country schools. On Jan. 22, 1937, Esther was united in marriage to Jesse Suntken at the First Reformed Church Parsonage in Meservey. To this union four children were born. The couple farmed near Alexander, Meservey and Belmond until 1982 when they retired and moved into Meservey. Esther was a member of the First Reformed Church of Meservey. was a member of the RCW and taught Sunday School. She loved music, flowers and gardening. Esther truly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jesse, of Meservey; three daughters, Donna Symens and her husband, Ronald, of Sheffield, Madonna Neuberger and her husband, William, of Klemme, and Janet Pals and her husband, Derald, of Alexander; one son, James Suntken and his wife Dianna, of Belmond; 10 grandchildren, Barbara, Wayne, Brian, Linda, Mark, Denise, Audra, Jason, Jon, and Matthew; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Kalkwarf, of Belmond, and a brother, Bert Pals, of Meservey. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Peter and Richard; one sister, Gertrude; and two great-grandsons, Quentin Pals and Daniel Murl.
