02/03/1997Catherine C. Holub, 81, of 115 South Rhode Island, Mason City died Sunday (Feb. 2, 1997) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center. There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated. Hogan Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., is in charge of arrangements. A memorial Mass will be held at noon Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, with the Rev. Carl A. Ries of St. Joseph Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Iowa in memory of Catherine C. Holub.
Catherine Holub was born April 15, 1915, in Whittemore, daughter of Otto and Mary M. (Elbert) Kohl. She married Ray Holub on Sept. 12, 1939, in Clarion. Catherine grew up in Mason City and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1933. She was manager and director of Luzier Cosmetic Company for over 35 years until retiring. Catherine was an avid card player and she enjoyed dancing and camping. She and her husband loved wintering in Texas. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she served as past Grand Regent.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Holub of Mason City; one son, Donald Holub and his wife, Judy, of Copley, Ohio; one daughter, Julie Anne Hickle and her husband, Greg, of Maple Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Helen Kohl of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
