Ray M. Holub, 80, of 115 S. Rhode Island Ave., Mason City, died Sunday (March 23, 1997) at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn. The body was cremated. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. Inurnment of the cremains and the cremains of his wife, Catherine C. Holub, will follow at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mason City Senior Citizens Center, in memory of Ray M. Holub.

Ray M. Holub was born June 2, 1916, in Preston, Minn., son of Louis and Regina E. (Tupy) Holub. He married Catherine C. Kohl on Sept. 12, 1939, in Clarion. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 1997. Ray grew up in Cresco and graduated from Cresco High School in 1934. He graduated from Hamilton's School of Commerce in 1936, and also served in the Army during World War II. Ray moved to Mason City in 1935. He managed United Fruit Store for 12 years and was a salesman for Gamble-Robinson for 21 years until retiring in 1980. He enjoyed square dancing, camping and fishing and he loved wintering in Texas. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and an active member of Mason City Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include one son, Donald Holub and his wife, Judy, of Copley, Ohio; one daughter, Julie Hickle and her husband, Greg, Maple Grove, Minn.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Helen Kohl, Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Catherine.
