MASON CITY -- Ethel M. Harrington, 73, of 1000 N. Eisenhower Ave., died Saturday (Aug. 26, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Towner and Deacon Warren Frelund officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Episcopal Church Columbarium. Visitation is from 4 to 8 tonight and Tuesday morning until noon at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Memorials may be given to St. John's Episcopal Church.

Ethel was born June 12, 1922, at Greene, Minn., a daughter of Lloyd Earl Cline and Anna Mae Buchanan Cline. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Belmond where in 1939 Ethel graduated from Belmond High School. In 1941, she graduated from Hamilton Business College and in December of last year she graduated from the Education for Ministry. Ethel married Kenneth W. Harrington March 28, 1948, in Mason City. She was employed by Montgomery Ward for 10 years and was office manager for Plumb Supply from 1950-80, retiring in 1980. Soon after her retirement, she became administrative assistant at St. John's Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Vestry, Fellowship Commission and St. John's Womanhood. She was a member of the Pilot Club and a former member of the Mason City Women's Chamber of Commerce and the Mason City Women's Club.

Survivors include a brother, Roger Cline and his wife, Phyllis, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a sister, Darlene Buckland and husband, Bernie, of Mason City; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Cline of Mason City and Blanche Cline of Greensboro, N.C.; many special nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Charles Halfpop; grandparents; husband, Kenneth, in 1987; one sister, Alice Lowenberg; three brothers, Clarence, Dale and Harry Cline; one niece, Colleen Cline; and one nephew, Larry Lowenberg.
