Carroll J. Wiegand, 76, of Belmond, died Tuesday (May 6, 1997) at the Kavanagh House, West Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jack Paisley officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, with military rites by the Belmond Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home, with a 7:30 p.m. Scriptural wake service. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.

Carroll J. Wiegand was born March 23, 1921, in Sac County. Survivors include one daughter, Jean Langstraat of Ankeny; three sons, Glenn of Appleton, Wis.; Lou of Dubuque, and Paul of Ames; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Freeman and Marie Ausborn, both of Sac City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one grandchild.
