Donald State, 85, of Galt, died Wednesday (May 7, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Elledge Funeral Home, Dows, with Stanley Watne officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Galt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Elledge Funeral Home.

Donald State was born Dec. 6, 1911, at Galt. Survivors include his wife, Estella of Galt; two sons, Darlyle State of Eldora, and Vernon State, Dows; two daughters, Arlyce Rout of Kanawha, and Avonne Johnson of Mason City; seven grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ervin State of Mason City; and three sisters, Gertrude Cuvelier of Tucson, Ariz.; Meredith Ahrens of Kingsville, Texas, and Audrey Price of Kennewick, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
