Beverly M. Newman, 64, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 1996) at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Tompsie Smith
and the Rev. Jeffrey Frese officiating. Burial will be at the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Bruce's Funeral Home, 923 First Ave. S.

Beverly [Whipple] was born April 26, 1932, on a farm near Clarion [the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Whipple]. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1950. On July 3, 1952, she married Stanley Newman. The couple farmed at Woolstock, until 1961, when they moved to Mason City, where she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. In 1969, they moved to Fort Dodge, where she worked for Central Telephone Company until 1983. Following Stanley's death in 1985, she worked as a part-time sales person at Olson Jewelry and at Trinity Regional Hospital in the radiology department as a receptionist until her retirement in 1995. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, participating in United Methodist Women, Vashti Circle, Board Member and a Communion Steward. She was also a member of the Christian Women's Club, Habitat for Humanity, and Ban de la Roche of Woolstock. Beverly was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City.

Survivors include her sons, Charles of Charles City; Mark of Garner; Randy of Clovis, Calif.; David and Richard, both of Fort Dodge; sister, Betty Beard of rural Boone; and 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; and her parents.
