March 20, 1915 --- April 7, 1996

Lois J. Elwood was born March 20, 1915, to George and Clara Jordan Elwood in Thompson, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1934. On January 8, 1940, she was united in marriage with Percy E. Elkin at the Methodist Parsonage in Eagle Grove. In 1954 they moved to a farm southeast of Clarion for two years and then to a farm at Belmond. In 1960, they returned to farming at Clarion and retired to town in 1974. Mr. Elkin died June 25, 1992. She moved to Southtown Apartments shortly after his death. She was a member of the Church of Christ and Senior Citizens.

Lois J. Elkin of Clarion, died in her home early Sunday morning, April 7, 1996, at the age of 81. Survivors include her sons, Morris and wife, Janell, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and Wayne and wife, Cathy, Clarion; four grandchildren; and a brother, Dallas Elwood, Corwith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; adult brothers, Marvel and Stoy; sisters, Livela and Zelphia; and infants, James, Benjamin, Morris, Doris, and Walter.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, April 10, 1996, at the Church of Christ with Mark Young officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Inc., Clarion, was in charge of arrangements.

Lois J. Elkin, 81, of Clarion, died Sunday (April 7, 1996) at home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clarion Church of Christ, with Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Lois J. Elkin was born March 20, 1915, in Thompson. Survivors include two sons, Morris of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Wayne of Clarion; one brother, Dallas Elwood of Corwith; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and three sisters.
