Sena "Jackie" Caroline Dasen Gunderson, 84, of 408 River Ave. S., Belmond, died Sunday (March 17, 1996) at the Belmond Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Carpenter and Deaconess Susan Gunderson officiating. Interment will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Ewing Funeral Home.

Jackie was born March 22, 1911, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of George and Dora (Nelson) Dasen. She attended school in Ottosen. On March 5, 1927, she was united in marriage with Chester Truman Gunderson. The couple made their home first in Clarion and later in Belmond, where Chester farmed and worked for the railroad. Jackie was a homemaker and worked for many years at the Belmond Community Hospital as a cook, which she enjoyed very much. In 1983, she was honored as "Cook of the Year" and in 1988, she was honored as "Mother of the Year" in Belmond. Jackie was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She also belonged to the Grandmother's Club. She loved to play cards, visit with her many friends, and be with her family.

Jackie is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Eckhoff and her husband, Richard, of Belmond; one son, Dean Gunderson and his wife, Mavis, of Duluth, Ga.; six grandchildren, Julie Boelman and her husband, David; Jim Eckhoff and his wife, Connie; Jon Eckhoff and his wife, Dawn; Cathy Straub and her husband, Robert; Susan Gunderson; Dennis Gunderson and his wife, Jane; five great grandchildren, Kimberly Eckhoff, Brian Eckhoff, Brandon Boelman, Dean Gunderson and Grant Eckhoff; three sisters, Dolda Lee, Evelyn Chism and Loraine Holsrud, and her husband, Carlisle, all of Bode; and two brothers, Harry Dasen of Humboldt, and Ralph Dasen and his wife, Charlotte, of Sanborn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester, in 1973; and four sisters.
