Bena L. VanHaaften, 91, of Belmond, died Saturday (March 16, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmond, with the Rev. David Pestel officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Bena L. VanHaaften was born April 27, 1904, at Goodell. Survivors include her husband, John VanHaaften, Belmond; one daughter, Jalois Crotty, Eldridge; one son, Arlin VanHaaften, Layton, Utah; one brother, Paul Duitscher, Mesa, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.
