Harold W. Draves, 85, of Galt, died Friday (June 23, 1995) at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Dows with the Rev. Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial will be in the Vernon Township Cemetery, Dows. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home in Clarion, with the family present from 6 to 8 tonight.
Harold Draves was born Jan. 29, 1910, in Wright County. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Draves; one daughter, Shirley Whipple, Belmond; one son, Robert Draves, of Dows; two sisters, Florence Barz, Latimer, and Margaret Bartz, Alexander; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and a grandson.

Harold W. Draves, 85, died Friday, June 23, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames where he had been a patient for two weeks. Funeral services were conducted from First Lutheran Church in Dows on Tuesday, June 27, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Glenn Kappelmann officiating. Burial was in Vernon Township Cemetery southwest of Dows. The Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were Dallas, Doug and Scott Ellingson, Mike Janssen, Jon Rother and Steve Waggoner. Curtis and Paula Rother and Suzzanne Flores provided the special music.
Harold William Draves was born on a farm in Wright County on January 29, 1910. His parents were C. August and Carrie L. Root Draves. He was raised and educated in Wright County. On August 29, 1927, Harold was united in marriage with Beulah M. Ellingson at Mason City. They farmed all of their married life. In 1980, Harold retired from farming but they continued to live on the farm. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dows; enjoyed family dinners, playing 500 and watching his granddaughters play Softball.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Beulah; a daughter Shirley and her husband Leslie Whipple of Belmond; a son Robert of Dows; four granddaughters: Dcbra Vanness of Marion, Ohio; Darla Kibsgaard of Clear Lake; Sherri McLaughlin of Belmond; Lori Hain of Mason City; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters: Florence Barz of Latimer and Margaret Bartz of Alexander. His parents, brother Floyd, and grandson Gail Whipple preceded him in death.
