FOREST CITY -- Mrs. Daisy Mitchell, 81, of Forest City, died Friday (June 23, 1995) at her home in Forest City. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Marzolf of the United Methodist Church will officiate, with burial in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation is from 2 to 6 tonight at the funeral home.

Daisy R. Mitchell, a daughter of Timothy Wilson and Purnie (nee) Couch Wilson, was born July 16, 1913, in Wright County, near Belmond. She began school in Iowa and then moved with her family to Stanberry, Mo., where she continued her education until the eighth grade. They then moved to Buchanan, Mich., for a year and then Forest City in 1930, where Daisy worked for Mary Lundburg for $3 (silver dollars) a week from 5 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. In August of 1931, she met Merle Mitchell and dated him for one year and two months before getting married on Oct. 22, 1932, at a church parsonage in Stanberry, Mo. The couple made their home in Forest City where Daisy worked at the chicken factory. She later worked with her husband Merle at the Superior Gas Station until they retired in 1968. After Merle's death in 1976, she continued to live at home where she passed away on June 23, 1995, at the age of 81. Daisy enjoyed her violets, crocheting, her doilies and afghans.

She is survived by her children, Cecil Mitchell and his wife, Karen, of Forest City, Jeanette Michelson and her husband, Doyce, of Mt. Pleasant, Phillip Mitchell of St. Paul, Minn., and Darol Mitchell and his wife, Beverly, of Hayfield, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, Douglas Mitchell, Tina Mahon, Richard Phillips, Jennifer Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Valorie Marr, Kimberly Brass, Debbie Moeller, Brian Michelson, Brent Michelson, Brad Michelson, Deanna Yocum and Sandi Sunken; and 19 great-grandchildren, Matt Moeller, Joe Moeller, Desiree Moeller, Austin Benner, Kinsey Michelson, Brock Michelson, Tanner Michelson, Danielle Yirkowsky, Dana Yocum, Chris Mitchell, Cory Mitchell, GabreGail Marr, Anastasia Marr, Levi Mahon, Cody Mahon, Tyler Mahon, Brittany Mitchell, Sierra Mitchell and Amanda Sunken. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milo Merle Mitchell, a stillborn twin daughter, Phyllis Mitchell; her parents; a sister, Jerushia Redmond; and two brothers, Henry Wilson and Mark Wilson.
