Harold Louis Montandon, 86, of Dows died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the Veteran's Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn. Funeral services will be Monday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Dows, with burial to follow at the Dows Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, from 2-7 p.m. at the Linns Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel. Family will receive friends between the hours of 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Harold was born Feb. 11, 1917, at Alden to Leon and Luella Worden Montandon. He attended country school near Alden. On June 28, 1942, he was united in marriage to Arlene Schroeder at Buffalo, N. Y. Walter served with the United States Army from 1942-45, in the European/African, Northern French and Germany campaigns as a surgical technician fourth grade. Harold and Arlene farmed east of Iowa Falls for many years retiring to Dows in 1968, when he then managed the Dows Golf Course for 11 years.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of Dows; two sons, Monty and wife Julie of Estherville, and Larry and wife Tish of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Glory Chapman and husband Bob of Clarion; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Earl; and two sisters, Opal McKinney and Irene Hawthorne. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is handling the arrangements.
