June 9, 1924 - April 15, 2001

Lloyd "Butch" Mulford, 76, of Eagle Grove, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the U.S.A. Health Care Center in Dows, after a lengthy battle with cancer. His funeral service will be Thursday, April 19, at the Church of Christ in Hampton at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, April from 4-8 p.m. at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Lloyd Marlyn was born on June 9, 1924, in Iowa Falls, the son of Leon and Nettie Keller Mulford. He attended school in Iowa Falls before joining the Navy in 1941. On March 27, 1944, he and Dorothy "June" Moore were married in Hampton. They resided in Iowa Falls before moving to Eagle Grove in 1951. In 2000 Lloyd was awarded his high school diploma through a federal program that recognized the young men and women who quit high school to serve their country in World War II. He cut meat for many years at the Super Valu Grocery Store in Eagle Grove. Later he worked for Boone Valley Co-op where he attained the position of quality control supervisor. He was a volunteer firefighter and member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time at his summer trailer in rural Minnesota.

Survivors include three children, Barbara Chambers and husband, Bill, of Dows, Leon and his wife, Janice, of Charles City, and Sandra Mulford and friend Sue Krichhof of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Meyer of Ackley, and Lois Izer of Mason City; special friend, Bonnie Phillips of Hubbard; two sisters-in-law Lucille Olhausen and her husband, Robert of Auburn, Ind., and Bess Mulford of Iowa Falls. Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; two brothers, Ray and Milo; two sisters, Gladys Seefeld and Irene Hoelscher.
